Ultrasound News

Ok, so I've not been able to blog my incredible news and I'm just dying! We had our ultrasound Thursday. When we went in Jake told the tech he just wanted to know what it was...a lima bean or kidney bean. We found out it's both! We are expecting TWINS!!! We are thrilled! The kind of crazy thing is that I was expecting it. Is that weird? In fact, I asked a girl I work with who has twins if she knew that she had twins before her ultrasound. She had said she was washing dishes before the US and the thought popped in her head, what if it's 2 babies? I told her I was wondering if I was going to have twins. Why? A few things. I've had numerous dreams about twins, I've been much more sick with this pregnancy, and for some reason or other I just felt like there are two kiddos in there. I'm glad to find out that there are as I'm already showing and have been since 7 weeks (I know it's the 2nd baby but seriously).
So how did the ultrasound go? Well, pretty much I was thinking to myself "when she puts this wand on my belly I'm going to see 2 sacks. Well, not quite. We saw the one little lima bean and then the tech moved the wand around and it looked like the same image but I wasn't really sure if it was 2 babies or just a different angle. Then she asked me why we were doing an early ultrasound. I told her for dates because I had been having a lot of issues. That pretty much made me feel like I was right in the first place. So she asked me if I could read ultrasounds enough to know what I was looking at. I was like...twins! I thought Jake would fall off his chair he was so excited. She said yes, she just had to do a lot of looking b/c she wanted to be sure there wasn't 3 babies. Wow! They are fraternal and not sharing anything which is WAY good from a NICU nurses perspective. They were measuring 8 5/7 weeks and 8 4/7 weeks (which by dates is 8 5/7 weeks so that's good). Everything looks great. Now I can't wait for my next OB appointment. I have SO many questions. I see the bad aspect of twins so I want to be sure I know exactly how to care for myself so I don't have to be at work to visit my babies. I want to take them home with me. And to be quite frank I really like my OB so I don't want to go to a special perinatologist if I don't have to. From what I've been reading online so far, most natural twins have no complications at all (especially fraternal)...it's when you have twins from fertility treatments.
I think it's amazing that the Lord has chosen me to be able to carry two little miracles. What a blessing! So many people have been supportive! I really have only had one negative response of "oh, I'm so sorry" Hey, not me. I'm just going to need some prayer to get me through the pregnancy and crazy hectic months to follow!
