Dirty Boys

Most days I really question what in the world my kids are thinking. I let them play outside in the backyard and the boys got so dirty. Apparently Jonah put sand on Elijah and Noah. All that we have in the backyard is sandy dirty, weeds and dog poop. I wish that we had a nicely landscaped yard and a playset. Maybe they would have something else to keep them occupied then instead of throwing dirt at each other.

Michigan Wolverine

We have a new little Wolverine in our family and so we had to get him ready for the UofM/MSU game.

Unfortunately, we lost...but he still looks pretty cute!

Elijah

Today Elijah had the opportunity to say the Pledge of Allegiance. The different classes take turns allowing someone to say the pledge and the teacher picks who will be able to do it for the day. His teacher, Ms. Carter, sent us an email saying that it would be Elijah's turn today. So despite how terrible I looked and felt today, we went to support him.

Back to "Normal"

And so it begins.  Today I was on my own for the first time since Oliver was born. Unfortunately, Jake had to go back to work. So sad! Missing him today.

I had to get little Ollie into his carseat to take Elijah to school. For the past two weeks Daddy has taken him and Mommy and Ollie were spoiled and able to just snuggle and sleep in. That was a blessing considering little man eats about every two hours.

It's a great time of year for Starbucks...lots of yummy flavors. I had to get a Pumpkin Spice Latte to get me through the day. I will survive...

Edited

I just love the photos that Jake took of Oliver. Then he surprised me and edited them to make them special. What a great hubby!

Oliver's Photo Shoot

Well, very thankfully, Oliver's umbilical cord fell off yesterday. It is still a bit oozy so I am trying to keep it clean with rubbing alcohol. We will keep an eye on it.

Since we no longer have a cord to keep dry, we got to give Oliver a tub (or sink) bath. We got this really awesome bath tub that's not a tub. Instead it's a foam flower that lets us give him a comfy bath in the sink.
As soon as we put him in it, he pooped.

It looks like he is saying, "Ah. That feels better."

And then we had to change out the water, and he became unhappy.

He just wanted to be snuggled. Then we got a studio set up and started Oliver's newborn picture photo shoot. I love the results. Jake does such a great job.

I am not sure what my favorite is. I love them all. He's such a cutie! I can't wait to get family pictures done one day!

Big Day

Today was a very busy and stressful day. I waited all morning to get Oliver's metabolic screen drawn. In the afternoon we went to see the ENT and get his tongue clipped. That was not too bad, but not my favorite. He did incredibly well. The ENT said it was a severe tie and very tight. He actually had to snip it twice. He did it old school and didn't even do sutures. He cried very briefly, and then nursed and never said boo again.
After the ENT we had to go to the pediatrician...again....for the third time this week. Why? Because of course nothing can be easy with us right now and Oliver's umbilical cord is oozing and smells DISGUSTING. I mean, honestly, gross. Really bad. The pediatrician had to put silver nitrate on it and told us if it doesn't fall off this weekend that we need to come back on Monday...or if it continues to ooze. So now we wait and hope that it doesn't get red or he doesn't get a fever because that will land us in the hospital. Not what I want to do so we will just pray it gets better.
