I am a Michigan girl at heart but have to admit living in Arizona is much more suiting for my always-cold self. I love the sun. In fact when it rains or is gloomy it is a bonus because it means that it's sleep-in weather. I also love that I don't have to scrape my car windshield in -30 degree weather. Arizona does have it's downfalls though. Despite the horrible allergies that it brings, I long to have green grass so that my kiddos could run and jump through the sprinkler. I miss the availability of Faygo, especially Rock and Rye. I miss driving where people know to stop for cars that are already backing up and know who has the right-of-way at a stop sign. Even though I am not fond of snow, I do miss it for my kids. There is something special about making the first snowman of the year. And during the summer, I miss the lakes. All the trips to the beach. While the beaches aren't like Clearwater, they still are something special. When I was young my parents took me camping all over Michigan and I have to say there is something special about going to the beach and then finding firewood on the trek back to camp. The anticipation of making s'mores and feeling the heat of the fire is something that is a bit exhilarating. Of course the number one reason I miss Michigan is because my family is still there. And I miss them. Terribly.
I met my husband, Jake, when I was 21 and thought that I would NEVER find someone to fall in love with. Now that I'm older I realize how crazy of a thought that was. Nevertheless, we met, fell in love, and were married on May 16, 2003 after a long distance and whirlwind romance, all while finishing nursing school. I graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors in Nursing degree, was hired in the NICU taking care of itty-bittys, and got married within two weeks. We honeymooned at Disney World, one of our favorite destinations ranking with South Africa, Chicago, San Francisco and San Diego. We briefly lived in a very quaint (aka small) apartment that we survived a fire (in the attic) and then shortly therafter decided to move to Arizona to escape the freezing cold.
After five years of marriage we decided to shake things up a bit and were blessed with our first son, Elijah on May 30, 2008. He brought us incredible joy and satisfaction. Not wanting him to be an only child, we tried for another little blessing only to find out we were expecting TWO blessings. After a not-so-fun pregnancy we were excited to bring our twins, Jonah and Noah into our family on September 3, 2010. We were finally getting into the swing of three boys and thought our family was complete when we found out we were expecting another bundle of joy. Our little 1 in 4,000 miracle baby boy, Oliver, was born September 24, 2015 giving us another chance to smother a little baby with love. So I am the Queen of my castle and have a King, four little princes, and even a little princess dog (Molly). It's been a crazy ride but its our crazy ride and I wouldn't change it for anything.
