New Obsession

Elijah has a new obsession. He LOVES Toy Story. Specifically Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. When you ask him what he wants to do for the day he says...Umm..watch Buzz Lightyear and Jessie? Little stinker. This past Saturday we took him out to the "Boot Store" (Sheplers) to buy Jake some cowboy boots with his birthday money and he found a Jessie hat and a little toy stick horse. He went running through the aisles with the two saying "ride 'em cowboy!" He was way cute...until we had to leave the store. Then came the tantrum. Grammy happened to call during this and of course can't stand to hear him cry and pointed out that her and Grampy sent birthday money for him and did he spend it. So needless to say he ended up with his "Jessie" hat. I have a toy stick horse that I found at Goodwill that I have been saving for him so he will get that shortly. I need to post a few pictures because he is way cute. Of course to top it off we found him some cowboy boots at Savers in perfect condition. Now we have our own little cowboy!

Sharing some good recipes

I made a couple of really good recipes the other day so I thought I would share. I got them from Kraft foods.

Luscious Cream Puffs

1/2 pkg frozen puff pastry thawed
1 c milk
1 pkg (4serving size) vanilla instant pudding
1 c. thawed Cool Whip
square of melted semi-sweet chocolate

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Unfold pastry sheet on lightly floured surface. Roll pastry to 10 inch scquare. Using a glass cut out 9 (or more) circles and place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 10 min. Cool completely.

Meanwhile, pour milk into large bowl. Add dry pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 2 min or until well blended. Gently stir in whipped topping. Cover. Refrigerate 15 min.

Cut cream puff horizontally in half. Spoon pudding mix evenly into bottom halves of cream puffs. Cover with tops. Drizzle with melted chocolate. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate.


Blueberry-Cheese Rolls

1 pkg refrigerated crescent rolls
4 oz 1/3 less fat cream cheese
2 tbs sugar
1/2 c. blueberries
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Unroll dough into 4 rectangles, firmly pressing perforations together to seal.

Combine cream cheese and sugar, spread onto dough rectangles with 1/2 inch of edge. Top evenly with blueberries. Bring opposite corners of rectangles together. Press together to seal. Place on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake 11-13 min or until golden brown.

Small Updates

First of all HAPPY FATHER'S Day Jake and Dad! Hope it is the best!

Things are going pretty well at our house. Elijah is going on the potty about 3 or 4 times a day but still quite often goes in his big boy undies that I let him wear for awhile when he first gets up. He is talking up a storm. Seriously. He loves to talk. And of course he's so smart. What does he say? Well, here's some Elijah quotes.
"P-U, that's a nasty" when he pooped in his undies and I did not know it and upon pulling them off had poop fall on the floor (my Mom got to verbally witness this as I was on the phone with her.
"Daddy at work to make money?" he told me on the phone when I told him I was coming to pick him up.
"I-key truck! I-key truck! Oh no, no money!" This said when he heard the ice cream truck. Apparently Jake had told him once he couldn't get ice cream from the truck b/c he didn't have any money.
"Mommy, Mommy...I no sleeping anymore!" heard via baby monitor when we were both napping and he had woken up.
"I wanna go Brandi's house. We go play?" said after I told him that this week he would be going to his friend Brandon's house when Mommy and Daddy were working. He wanted to go NOW, not later.
"Friends play ow-side together...like me and Brandi" said during a random conversation about I don't even remember what.
"Scorpi PSSSss" said while he puts his finger to his chest like he is stinging himself talking about our scorpion that we tell him will sting him if he touches it. He also says this about any spiders he sees.
"Sun isbeet" which coming from him actually sounds like he is swearing at us means that the sun is bright.
He sings songs, like The Wheels on the Bus, Jesus Loves Me, and the B-I-B-L-E and when doing so he'll say "sing it Mommy!"
Anyway. He's so stinking cute..handful..but cute. The other thing, he is now officially in a big boy bed in his new room. Now his crib has been raised for a baby....wow.

Preggo wise I am getting bigger. Lots bigger. And am uncomfortable now. I have a lot more side/ligament pain than I did with Elijah. They said everything was good at my appointment on Thursday and the ultrasound last Friday showed them both head down, facing each other and about 1 pound 9oz/10 oz each. We are getting more and more done around the house in preparation for their arrival. Someone from work bought cute onsies that say "thing one" and "thing two" with the Dr.Suess characters on them. Very cute.

Happy Birthday 2 You

Sunday was a big celebration for Elijah's SECOND BIRTHDAY! YEAH!
Our big boy turned TWO! We had some of Elijah's favorites for dinner...hot dogs, french fries, pears, carrots and dip (dip being the favorite part, not the carrots). Then we celebrated with a train cake (a failed attempt to try to make a dinosaur train like one of his favorite tv shows) and I-C Keem (aka ice cream). We had party hats (which he wouldn't wear) and blowers. He enjoys the Happy Birthday song so that was great too. As soon as we were done singing it he knew what to do so that candle was out!

After the festive foods he opened all his AWESOME presents! I have more pictures but I can't get them up so you'll have to imagine his excited face when he found out he got dinosaurs, books, legos, clothes, AND a sand box. Yeah! What a great day!

A Birthday Trip to the Zoo

On Saturday we took a trip to the zoo. It was a little hot but I think we went at just the right time before it gets into the 100 degree mark. Unfortunately the pictures are way out of order but I will try to narrate accordingly.
Jake was a great sport and despite not really liking zoos too much (going on a real safari is much better) he dressed the part and made it a great day for Elijah. Thumbs up to Daddy zookeeper!!!

After going to as many exhibits as we could before Mommy died of exhaustion and Elijah got too cranky without a nap, we spent a little time at the splash area so he could let out any leftover energy he had. Needless to say he was out like a light as soon as he was in the car.

Of course Jake got LOTS of WAY cool pictures of the animals but I figured I could only post a few. Is this not a cool pic of a monkey? They actually have a monkey exhibit that you walk around in and they can get pretty close to you.

Taking a break for lunch. I was glad I brought some snacks and water...not enough but at least it saved us a little. I was a little surprised because when my Mom and I took Elijah to the Detroit Zoo the food was relatively inexpensive. Not so here! We will remember this and pack accordingly next time! Seven dollars for a mini pizza or a hot dog combo! Seriously?

Jake had the great forsight to bring some binoculars for Elijah to use. He LOVED them. Every time we saw a new animal he had to look through them. We got a kick out of it...others did too. Way cute little buddy!

Of course another great animal shot. We were fortunate that the tiger woke up right when we got to his habitat. The lion was sleeping (boo) but we got to see him. He even gave us a nice big toothy yawn.

Here Daddy is with a tired and hot baby. At this point we are almost done with our zoo excursion. We had lots of fun and will definitely go back. We didn't get to see everything and ended up buying a pass. We figured it will give us something to do, even if it's just for half a day to get out of the house. I am looking forward to getting to go to zoolights now! I know it won't be the easiest thing when we have the twins but I'm sure we'll get through it. Hey, we can't stay cooped up in the house forever. Then I really WILL go crazy!

Big News at Our House

Well, I have not been pushing this in any way, shape, or form however, Elijah has decided that he likes the potty training thing. A few months ago we bought a potty because he showed interest. Then he lost interest. Lately he has shown interest again so I started putting "big boy undies" on him after getting him up in the morning. Usually he either pees through them and doesn't say anything or he doesn't pee until I put a diaper on him after lunch before nap. Well, on Thursday I heard him start to tinkle on the floor and said "no, no, go to the bathroom." He ran to his potty and slammed the door behind him. Five minutes went by and I checked up on him...only to have him slam the door and say "go away". Five minutes again, same thing. Finally five minutes later a beaming Elijah comes out "I poop in the potty!" Well, he didn't poop, he peed but it was exciting just the same. He got to call Daddy and tell him and get a candy "prize" . Well, since then he has gone pee 4 times and poop once. I can't believe it. He is very candy motivated. Jake just ordered a gumball machine online. We won't use gumballs but some other round candy will do I'm sure.

Here is him dumping into the toilet. The best part is he got to flush. Way cool since we don't let him do it for us. We tell him you have to pee in the potty to flush the toilet. Well, he finally got to flush...and we clapped. Here's him getting his goods. I know, why did I get a picture? I was excited okay.

Now we have to wash our hands and then we get to pick out our candy prize. Smarties, licorice, jelly beans, gummy worms...so many choices!

Anyways, I have a lot more things to post. This weekend was a busy one with Elijah's birthday. Hopefully I will get to it all!
