Some more updates

We are still doing well here at our house. We are starting to get into a routine with the changes that have happened. On Mondays we go to my friend Clarinda's house so that Elijah can get out and play with her kids and I can lay on her couch and get a change of scenery and some conversation. It's nice too because I miss being able to play with Elijah and this way at least I can watch him a little. Clarinda's amazing because she already has 4 kids of her own, including a 7 month old and she takes on Elijah and I and feeds us and cleans her house and does her laundry without missing a beat. I appreciate it.

On the remaining days Elijah goes to his GaGa's house to play all day. He loves their house and thinks Papa and GaGa are the best. I do too. I had a wonderful blessing of a cleaning fairy (aka Mom) on Saturday. Not only that, when I came home on Monday I found that my nasty, dirty carpets had been cleaned by the carpet cleaning fairy (again, aka Mom).

I get out of the house three other times during the week all of which started this week. Once for a non-stress test at the hospital (bummer, can't get it at the dr b/c they don't have a twin monitor), once for the dr and once for a biophysical profile at the hospital. Yikes! 45 min drive plus waiting for the appointments...which the past couple times at the hospital has been an hour because now they no longer have a separate fetal assessment center so basically I'm seen in between triage patients. Anyway. So far all of my tests are good and the Motrin that I'm on is keeping the constant contractions at bay. I am starting to be a little more uncomfortable but when I think about it, even though I technically am measuring about 38 weeks or so, my discomfort is not as bad as when I was 38 weeks with Elijah. These guys seem to be a little lower though so I can breathe better (with the exception of the humidity which has aggravated my asthma a bit). Even though I feel more like they are falling out, being on bedrest helps with that b/c I'm not on my feet enough to have it bother me.

I have also been blessed with WONDERFUL ladies at church that have been taking time out of their busy schedules to make us some excellent and tasty meals so that I don't have to rely on what Jake may concoct. While he's not a bad cook, cooking everyday in addition to working and taking on added responsibilities at home may not be the best thing.
Here is Elijah enjoying some of his cool new "paints" from some of my awesome coworkers. They have helped keep him occupied on the rare instance that I am left home with him by myself, when Daddy needs to get some things done, or just plain because he likes to do them.

These next pictures are a little older...from when we went to the boot store a few weeks ago and he wanted a "Jessi" hat. We happened to be on the phone with Grammy who just couldn't stand to hear him cry and pointed out that she and Grampy had sent out some birthday money that maybe he could buy his hat with. Well, he loves it as you can see.

He also got a Jessi and Woody doll from his friend Caitlin. These are the real things from when Toy Story 2 came out. He loves them and takes them everywhere. Thanks Cat!

Here's an infrequent smile for the camera.

And this is him after a long and hard day at Papa and GaGa's house. Jake and I were just talking on the couch and turned to find him asleep like this. Crazy goose.

Well, I guess that's it for now. I was hoping that I could update my blog from my phone now that I have the internet on it (YEAH!! gives me something to do!) but for some reason I can't. Boo. Oh well. I will do my best to keep it updated.

Some Pictures at Last

I finally got some pictures uploaded that Jake had taken from his new point and shoot so here they are.

This is me 3 weeks ago...and yes, I have gotten bigger than this. We had taken a lot more photos when I was pregnant with Elijah but this time around haven't really gotten to the whole big photo shoot...and now, I'm not so sure we will be able to. Oh well. Do I really want to remember how big I got? At least I haven't gained an astronomical amount of weight. Just 34 pounds so far.

These Pictures were taken a few weeks ago as well when the Yankees played the Diamondbacks. Jake got two free tickets from a guy at work and I happened to have the day off of work so we were able to go together. It was my first Diamondbacks game, second baseball game. I went to a Tigers game when I was in middle school. It was Elijah's first game and he LOVED it. He kept saying things like "good catch" and dancing and clapping when the fans did.
Here's Elijah taking a bath after a new haircut. Little cutie. He's just getting so big!

This is us at Burger King a couple weeks ago. I think I had some kind of appointment or something so we stopped to eat before hand. I have been craving icees for the last few weeks. Thanks for sharing your preggo craving with me Jennifer! Good thing they are only $1 at Burger King. They also sell them at Target, which Elijah will tell you. He will say he wants to go to Target and get "copcorn (popcorn) and an icee" Poor guy won't be getting any for awhile.

On the current events I had a lovely visit with some ladies from work. What a blessing they were keeping me occupied for a few hours, bringing things for me and Elijah to do, and bringing a whole pile of food. Not to mention all the ladies from church stepping in and each taking days during the week to drop off food as well. It is overwhelming to me how kind and generous everyone has been. I have to admit my faith was wavering a bit when I first found out I would in fact have to be home on bedrest but God really has shown He can take care of us and has used some WONDERFUL people to do so. I have to admit I am still a little apprehensive at the thought that now I will only have 6 weeks at home once the babies are born and then back to work. My biggest fear is suffering from the depression that I had with Elijah. It's something I have been praying about since I found out that I was expecting...before we even knew it was twins. That added workload is something I find a bit terrifying but I know that somehow God will get me through it, I just don't know by what method that will happen.
Anyway. I guess that is all for now.

Bedrest Bummer

I haven't been able to update in a bit but a lot sure has gone on. After I came home from work last Friday morning I ended up calling my OB because I was having the "mini" contractions constantly. It felt like I was constantly in that pre-labor stage and made me nauseated and very uncomfortable. So he started me on Motrin therapy to help stop the contractions and told me to rest during the weekend and see him Monday morning. When Monday rolled around I was super nauseated on the way in to my appointment and sitting in the waiting room I became even more sick. By the time they called me in I was pale and clammy. Needless to say they were not impressed and they ended up calling Jake to come take me to triage because I was dehydrated and they wanted to monitor the babies and my contractions. By the time we got there I was SO sick! I never want to feel like that again! Anyway, all my blood work came back ok and they just gave me some fluids and sent me home...on bedrest. Ok, so I knew it was coming sooner or later but I had hoped it would be later rather than sooner. I kind of figured after working on Thursday that working may not be a good thing seeing as the past three nights that I had worked just caused me a lot of fatigue and contractions. Going to triage twice within the week is probably not a very good thing.
So now I have been on bedrest since Monday and am REALLY trying to not let things bother me. I am super emotional, feel like I have a lot to get done that I CAN'T get done, am mourning the ability to do things for myself and just up and go grocery shopping etc, and think that my due date is WAY too far off. I have had a lot of phone calls and visits from friends and family and have been getting a lot of help with meals and watching Elijah which is a HUGE blessing. Now we are taking things on a week by week basis. I have to see my OB once a week AND get an ultrasound weekly because the side effect of Motrin is decreased amniotic fluid...plus we are watching for any cervical changes. I had my first AFI and cervical length ultrasound today and the tech said that everything looked good. Yeah! Although I am very happy to be 29 5/7 weeks I would prefer 32 or better 34 or 36 weeks seeing as I have wimpy white boys in there. Now I am just waiting for the OB to call and say that I have gestational diabetes. Yep. As if this all wasn't enough I failed my one hour glucose test and had to get the 3 hour one yesterday. Hopefully it was just the first one that I failed and the 3 hour will be ok. I guess I just have to wait on that.
Anyway. Although I don't especially like being on bedrest because I am a very active person, I realize that I need to do it for the babies and am VERY BLESSED that so far they are very healthy and growing well.
All for now. I will try to keep posting as often as I can.

Naughty Boys

This past weekend we had a not very fun Fourth. Jake was sick with the stomach flu and I "kind of" caught it too. I just had all the crampy, not feeling good feelings. Oddly I joked that I hoped this wasn't a repeat of the last time both of us were sick when I was pregnant because I was actually in prelabor and ended up having Elijah the next day. Haha. Well, at work on Monday I ended up feeling really icky and felt like maybe I was having contractions. Well, I was the only team leader on so I didn't feel like I could go downstairs to triage or anything. I thought maybe if I slept well I would be better. Well, I worked Tuesday as well and by 8pm I realized I needed to go to triage...all when everything was crazy at work. I finally got downstairs at 10pm and told them I wasn't sure if I was having contractions but something wasn't right. Well, it ended up being that I have uterine irritability so I have a lot of mini contractions. I'm dilated to 1 although the test that predicts delivery within 2 weeks was negative. My doctor is happy about that but doesn't like me dilating already. Our plan is that I can work my next 2 scheduled days, no team leading, bedrest at home and then he'll check me on Tuesday. If I dilate anymore work is out of the picture. I know it may seem wierd to work but be on restrictions at home but he knows I'm trying to have the most time off with the babies and seeing as they can only guarantee my job for 12 weeks total (bedrest and postpartum), I'd like to work as long as I can. I don't really know a whole lot about uterine irritability but I can tell you it's not very comfortable. Kind of like always feeling like you're in the early stages of labor. Not writhing in pain but scowling a lot...if that makes sense.

On another note I have wonderful, generous coworkers who threw me an awesome shower with good food and lots of great gifts for the babies. Jake and I are truly blessed. We got diapers, clothes, booties/socks, toys and stuffed animals, blankets, a travel swing, moses basket, stroller and carseat. NO WAY! I still am awestruck from it all. I work with a great team! Although I don't WANT my babies to be born early, I know that if they are they will be well cared for and that's truly a relief!

Other news. We had another ultrasound and found that the boys are growing well. They are estimated at 2#10 and 2#7 oz. They are both head down which my doc said will probably stick now because of limited movement in the womb. That would be awesome. I would LOVE to avoid a c-section if possible.

Anyway. I guess I better go. I hope to keep you all posted on how we're doing!

Getting Closer

It seems like time flies by. When I think about it, I really don't have much time left before these little peanuts are born. 10 more weeks at max but potentially sooner. Wow. I went to yet another doctor appointment and found out that my blood pressure is STILL good..yeah!!! Although I get swelling at work or when I sit or stand for too long, I'm doing well. I am on the low end of weight gain...28 pounds so far..but I'm sure that will change very quickly. I am pretty much all baby...or should I say babies? I'm not sure how you would phrase that one. Anyway. Despite me being 28 weeks I am measuring 34. Yowsers! What's funnier is that I FEEL like I'm 34 weeks. You know, starting to be uncomfortable, can't sit, can't stand, can't bend over to pick stuff up, TERRIBLE heart burn that you have to sleep sitting up, can't eat much b/c there's no room and just starting to think...THANK GOD the end is near...only it's not...at least not in 6 weeks (or so we hope). Anyways. Hopefully pics to follow!
