Naughty Boys

This past weekend we had a not very fun Fourth. Jake was sick with the stomach flu and I "kind of" caught it too. I just had all the crampy, not feeling good feelings. Oddly I joked that I hoped this wasn't a repeat of the last time both of us were sick when I was pregnant because I was actually in prelabor and ended up having Elijah the next day. Haha. Well, at work on Monday I ended up feeling really icky and felt like maybe I was having contractions. Well, I was the only team leader on so I didn't feel like I could go downstairs to triage or anything. I thought maybe if I slept well I would be better. Well, I worked Tuesday as well and by 8pm I realized I needed to go to triage...all when everything was crazy at work. I finally got downstairs at 10pm and told them I wasn't sure if I was having contractions but something wasn't right. Well, it ended up being that I have uterine irritability so I have a lot of mini contractions. I'm dilated to 1 although the test that predicts delivery within 2 weeks was negative. My doctor is happy about that but doesn't like me dilating already. Our plan is that I can work my next 2 scheduled days, no team leading, bedrest at home and then he'll check me on Tuesday. If I dilate anymore work is out of the picture. I know it may seem wierd to work but be on restrictions at home but he knows I'm trying to have the most time off with the babies and seeing as they can only guarantee my job for 12 weeks total (bedrest and postpartum), I'd like to work as long as I can. I don't really know a whole lot about uterine irritability but I can tell you it's not very comfortable. Kind of like always feeling like you're in the early stages of labor. Not writhing in pain but scowling a lot...if that makes sense.

On another note I have wonderful, generous coworkers who threw me an awesome shower with good food and lots of great gifts for the babies. Jake and I are truly blessed. We got diapers, clothes, booties/socks, toys and stuffed animals, blankets, a travel swing, moses basket, stroller and carseat. NO WAY! I still am awestruck from it all. I work with a great team! Although I don't WANT my babies to be born early, I know that if they are they will be well cared for and that's truly a relief!

Other news. We had another ultrasound and found that the boys are growing well. They are estimated at 2#10 and 2#7 oz. They are both head down which my doc said will probably stick now because of limited movement in the womb. That would be awesome. I would LOVE to avoid a c-section if possible.

Anyway. I guess I better go. I hope to keep you all posted on how we're doing!
